Never a Dull Moment!

So here I sit, watching my boys laugh and play. As Jack says, "I naked". Adam has been a crab for what seems like months and last night I discovered why. He cut 3 teeth all at once! Today he has been a happy go lucky little boy. That explains the numerous poops in a day and the blow outs he has had!
Last night marked a major milestone in Adam's life. He had his last bottle. It was a hard moment for me that I wanted to last forever. Of course he downed it in what seemed like seconds and slept through it, but it gave a chance to reflect on how far he really has come in a year. I had to wait 3 days before I could feed him for the first time and that was by holding a syringe up in the air and letting the formula run down into his stomach through a tube in his nose. I religiously walked to the NICU from my room for those few moments when I could actually do something for him. I wasn't even able to cradle him in my arms and comfort him. That would take a few more days. Finally I was able to put him in my arms and give him a bottle for the first time. And last night I cradled him in my arms for the last time with a bottle. Bittersweet it was for my baby is not a baby anymore.
Along with lasts come firsts. Adam has now discovered climbing! He has attempted to climb the entertainment center, and has just tipped over in the Handy Manny chair trying to climb up on the end table. I was hoping he wouldn't be a climber but he has shown that he wants to be just like Big Brother in every way.

Adam's 12 month Checkup and Jack with the Potty!

Adam went in for his 12 month check up today. Dr was concerned because he didn't gain weight the last few months like he has been the last year. He is above average for height though. Adam came in at 20lbs., and 30.25 inches. Dr wants us to give him pediasure to give him more calories. So once his formula runs out he will no longer be on bottles, and he will be getting pediasure instead. I might add in another bottle in the day, but he is doing so well on the one a day I don't want to screw that up and then have a harder time getting rid of the bottle! He has 6 months to gain weight before I have to take him in again so there is no rush!
We also took Adam into Sears on his birthday to get his 1 year pictures. Oh did we have a hard time! He didn't like the changing of the backdrops for the cake pictures so we had to cut that short, but he did very well for his outfit pictures. He was hamming it up!
I couldn't resist this one for my wall. He is just too darn cute! And does he ever look like his Daddy in it!

Showing off his standing skills. Since this picture he has discovered how much fun walking is and has taken up to 6 steps! Go Adam!

Adam posing with his Build a Bear. He may not of liked the noisey process to get his bear, but he sure loves snuggling with it in bed!

Here is the cake we took in for his pictures and yes he is crying. He was totally freaked out and kept turning around to look at the back drop. Next time there is a back drop change, Adam will be leaving the room!

Here he is looking at the back drop. You can tell how messy he got with the cake in this one!
So my baby is now a year old. A year ago he was in the NICU and I wondered if I was ever going to get him home! Now I am worried about walking! Luckily Big Brother has baby proofed everything for him already! It sure is differant cooking for Adam too! He eats everything I put in front of him. I have yet to find a food he does not care for. Unlike his brother who refuses to eat just about anything set in front of him!

Jack has been doing great at the whole potty training thing. He even poops on the potty for me at least 3 times a week! I love not having to change so many poopy diapers! He has a fun way of saying good bye to whatever was put into the potty. Here he had just pooped and he demonstrated with some coaxing! As many of you are aware, really what he is saying shouldn't be too shocking considering he hears it a lot!

Mommy is anxious for the days where we can get outdoors and let off some of this energy that Jack has. He never stops! Up, down, in, and out. He is just always going and always talking. Gee, I wonder where he got that from! Jack also had the adventure which included our log stair case the day before Adam's birthday party. I was cleaning up the dining room and could hear Jack upstairs, Kory was downstairs trying to get our shower doors up so we could once again shower in our bathroom! As you can tell from the video, some work has been done! So anyway I called for Jack to stop playing with Adam's unwrapped birthday presants and to come downstairs. Of course he decided to listen after a few minutes and all of a sudden I heard the first thud and then the other. I yelled for Kory and hurdled the gate between the living room and dining room to finally get to him resting at the bottom of the stair head first into the gate that is supposed to prevent him from climbing them in the first place! Of course my mind went immediately to Natasha Richardson. He was wimpering but no all out crying. He thankfully was alright and the marks on his back are finally clearing up. We don't think he hit his head at all on the way down because we couldn't find any marks and he didn't act any differant after.
Jack's new game is looking for Rick. We got Adam a ramp from Fischer Price for his birthday and Kory named the Fire Truck Rick. So now I hear all day long, "Rick, Rick, Rick! Where'd he go?" I am sure my brother is bursting with pride with this new game of Kory's and Jack's

Adam's Birthday Party

We celebrated Adam's Birthday a week early. We had a great day full of laughter and excitement. Lots of people turned out to celebrate the first year of Adam's life. There were a few that were there is spirit that we missed but understood why you couldn't be here. There is always next year!! So here is a few photographs of the wonderful day!
Here Adam is enjoying a grahm cracker pre party.

Checking out a presant with Brother and Daddy.

The four of us!

He literally dove into his cake. I don't think he wanted his hands dirty at first because he just bent over and ate his cake that way. It was too funny to watch!

Already?

I am trying to figure out where the last 11 months went! How can it possibly be that my baby is 11 months old today!

Finally, we got Adam's 9 month shots done!

Just wanted to have proof of the handsome smile he does have.

We took Adam in for his 9 month pictures yesterday. He did a lot of whining and we managed to get a few good shots that we can use. He definitely isn't my photogenic child!

Here he is starting to whine, but it still turned out cute.

He didn't know what to really make of the photographer. But this is one of my favorites.

There is a little smile. I think he has my dad's smile.

Now this is my Adam. It is just totally him when the camera comes out. We really have to work on him to get smiles out of him.

My little Mr. Serious. I just can't get over the fact that he acts like this everytime we do pictures!! He is too cute.

A New Year...

A new year is upon us and well, we're a month into our new year! Not much really is going on with us. Adam is making strides left and right and Jack is busy being Jack. Adam has now discovered how to army crawl. He has been doing this for a few weeks now and climbs over bean bags and whatever else is in his way. Another new trick...
Here is Adam making sure I have the camera ready.
And I captured him pulling up for the first time. He only got to his knees and wasn't to sure what to do next, but now is getting to his feet. He only pulls himself up at this chair at the presant time but he will figure out other spots soon I am sure.

I have discovered that Jack is more like me when it comes to eating. He is very picky! I made a rice taco casserole for the kids the other day and he started screaming after taking a bite. He grabbed is wash rag from the back of his chair and started wiping his mouth. I handed him his milk through my laughter. One thing I have discovered that I thought for sure he wouldn't eat...
Grandma's sweet pickles!!! He absolutely loves them!! She will have to be planting cucumbers this year and hope they grow this time because he is eating all the pickles!
And this is just proof that he actually put it in his mouth and ate it. I thought for sure this picture would be him spitting it out. So Grandma, can you make me more pickles?
The sickness has entered our house again. We have plans to go out for the Super Bowl this weekend but I am sure I will be sick by then. Some of the kids I watch have the flu, so Jack and I will probably have it by Sunday. Adam is currently on antibiotic for an ear infection I would have never guessed he had. He had started with a cold but was acting normal, no fever, was still eating, but the only differance was his sleeping. Well one night I was up every hour with a coughing baby who started to get sick all over his bed and all over our bed! Not what Kory and I want at 1 in the morning. He just looked at us and smiled and laughed. I called the dr the next morning because by now I just wanted to sleep through the night again! The only reason they wanted me to bring him in is because he got sick. The dr told me he was probably a day away from rupturing! Never would have guessed it. Though possibly bronchitis. So now I will be calling the dr everytime something is off with him for fear of an EI again. It was the same one that was infected in December and it was clear at his 9 month appointment two weeks prior.
That is all for now. Hopefully I will get to go out for the Super Bowl. Guess you will have to stay tuned to find out!

Jack's Tender Heart

So yesterday afternoon we were all relaxing. Adam was sleeping and it was Kory, and I, and Jack was playing with his new train. A commercial for the ASPCA came on and Jack began to cry. He had the largest crocodile tears and the saddest eyes. He crawled up into my lap and he pointed to the tv and said puppies. It was one of those moments that melted my heart. Later he was playing with his new puppy from Uncle Rick and Auntie Faith when one of the songs it plays made him cry the same way the commercial did. Either he was having a highly emotional day or he has discovered the tender side of emotion.
