Jack's Tender Heart

So yesterday afternoon we were all relaxing. Adam was sleeping and it was Kory, and I, and Jack was playing with his new train. A commercial for the ASPCA came on and Jack began to cry. He had the largest crocodile tears and the saddest eyes. He crawled up into my lap and he pointed to the tv and said puppies. It was one of those moments that melted my heart. Later he was playing with his new puppy from Uncle Rick and Auntie Faith when one of the songs it plays made him cry the same way the commercial did. Either he was having a highly emotional day or he has discovered the tender side of emotion.

Adam's First Christmas

So here I sit in a nice quiet house. The boys are in bed, and so is Kory. I am listening to the wind outside and am reflecting on a Christmas that was filled with a lot of joy, laughter, and family. I must say, it was a very memorable time.
**I have yet to realize that when I add pictures to start from the last to the first. So some of these pictures are out of order. But you will see the fun we had!**

Mommy and the boys opening presants.
This is one of Jack's favorite presants. He LOVES Handy Manny and my parents found a table and chairs for the boys. He even has to eat his meals here!

Sporting his new outfit from mommy and daddy and his new sippy cup from his cousin who got him one from the school she is going to!

Here is Adam, enjoying his new piano. He really loves to jam out with it!

This is a new trick that I was trying to add in at the end. He doesn't pull himself up yet, but if we stand him up, he can do it on his own!

So this is where we were supposed to begin. With Jack filling his plate of cookies for Santa. Santa was supposed to have all three of those peanut butter balls, but at the last second, Jack decided he needed to eat one!

Our tree after Santa paid his visit. Looks like our boys were pretty good this year!

Here is Jack playing with his other favorite toy. He is loving the new train!
Oh and so are the cats! That is Sophie in the background and she had fun watching the train go around and batting at it.

This is one of my favorites that I captured Christmas morning. I like to believe that there were Angels smiling down on Adam on his first Christmas. His Grandma Judy, and my Grandma would have enjoyed him and loved on him so much. I just feel that they were there enjoying his joy right along with us.

I said to Kory that maybe Santa should have just brought tissue paper for Adam to enjoy. This was his reaction each time he opened a presant.
As you can see, the boys enjoyed their day. Mommy and Daddy enjoyed watching the joy on their faces, and listening to them squeal with delite. After a long and trying year and a half, we have all come together and found joy as a family. We have found comfort in each other and have grown stronger with each obstacle thrown at us. Here is to a Happy, Healthy, and Joyful 2009!!

It has been a while...

So I realized that I haven't Blogged in a while and thought I should catch you up some on the goings ons here. Both boys have had to be on antibiotics, Adam an ear infection, and Jack Bronchitis. We have finished our Christmas shopping and look forward to getting together with family and celebrating this blessed season starting on Saturday. Here is just some of what we have been up to in December.
We put up our Christmas tree.
Adam finally decided that sitting up was pretty cool and now does it when I put him on the floor. When he gets sick of sitting he just flops back and begins to roll. The other night he crawled for the first time. So my days just got crazier!!(insert face of someone pulling out hair)

Adam also discovered the Christmas tree and batting at the ornaments is pretty fun.

Jack enjoyed a night on Daddy's lap watching Rudolf the Rednose Reindeer. Kory always talks about doing this with his mom when he was little, so he wants to do this with the boys too.

And we had our first big snowstorm. So the boys got to go out and play!

We want to wish all our friends and family a very blessed and happy Christmas and New Year!

Adam's First Thanksgiving

Bright and Early in the morning Momma sat up for a photo shoot.
This is the turkey I propped up next to Jack when he had his first Thanksgiving at 3 weeks old. This time the child dwarfs the turkey!!
This is what I am thankful for among my husband, my parents, my bothers and their wives, my nieces and nephews, and my sister in laws and brother in laws.

This is Jack saying "cheese". He is photogenic, unlike his brother.

Rooting on the Cowboys.

Our Thanksgiving was peaceful. This was my first year making dinner for Kory's side of the family. Thanks to my mom, I did not burn the turkey since she cooked it for me. Next year I will be brave and bake my first bird. It was nice putting the boys to nap in their own beds and getting decent naps in before the family showed for the evening. The boys enjoyed their time with their cousins. We have much to be thankful for this year. Adam made it here, healthy and strong now, being together as a family of four, and for our entire extended family and their health.

Mama's Goof up!

So Kory and I were discussing Reese Witherspoon last night and the new movie that is coming out with her and Vince Vaughn. We remembered reading somewhere that Reese was complaining about Vince's actions on set and I said either it was fabrication or she is just really a b^tch in real life. I just couldn't understand how you couldn't get a long with someone as funny as him. Well out of the mouth of Jack Owen, came a cute sweet innocent little voice repeating the word!! All these months I have been warning Kory about his swearing and of all people Jack starts repeating is when I don't heade my own warnings!! Luckily today he doesn't remember, but the days of repeating what we say and do have finally arrived!!

Happy 2nd Birthday Jack!

Two years ago, this sweet little package entered our lives. It was one of the best days of my life. His sweet little face, the bluest of eyes, his calm demeaner. He was at home the minute he came into this world. He didn't want to be "tied" down then and to this day does not want to be held back. He is the light of my life and I thank God everyday for the best gift he could give me in this entire world.
This is the second light of my life. He had to enjoy the festivities too!

I forgot to get birthday candles so we improvised...

Then he proceeded to use them as drumsticks!

Grandma was taking to long to cut the brownies, so he dug in!

Finally they were cut and he got to enjoy the first piece.

Time for presants!! Grandma and Grandpa gave him the WWF Zebra from Build A Bear, a new pair of pajamas, and a Jack in the Box. Mommy, Daddy, and Adam gave him a Cars sweatshirt, and the Fisher Price Little People Race Track.

Mommy and Jack enjoyed playing together with his new toys!

Jack in his new pajamas enjoying the last few minutes of our party! Next week is the big party with all our family!

So two years ago, Kory's and my life changed for the better. We have enjoyed every new milestone he has encountered. We have soaked up every little stage we could. And today he is two. He is talking more and more and we are finally able to understand a good majority of what he is saying. He is keeping us busy and yeah we grumble about his behavior, but we are enjoying it to the fullest. We will never have this time with him again. I am sad to see this time pass so quickly, but am excited for what the future holds for our little boy. The world is his to achieve whatever he sets his mind to, and we will support him in whatever it is.
I love you Jack Owen!!

A day late and a dollar short...

So tonight we did our Halloween pumpkin carving. Yes, I know, it is November 1st, but last night we went out to eat with my parents. Boy was that meal yummy! Anyway, when the boys got up from their extremely long naps, we carved our pumpkin.
Here the boys look thrilled to see what Daddy was doing!
Then they realized, he is a little weird for cutting our pumpkin.

Adam is smurking because of what his brother did in the next picture!

Jack, they taste better after getting out of the oven!

I have always wanted to get a picture of my baby in a pumpkin at Halloween. I realize the pumpkin we picked out was much too small to fit Adam in, but I indulged myself and snapped this anyway!

After Daddy got the big pumpkin cleaned out, Jack got to decorate his little pumpkin he picked out.

Then Jack got to help Mommy carve the face into the big pumpkin!

And this was our finished product!

Jack posing without shoes on but hey he was only out there for a minute and it wasn't that cold out!

And last but not least, Adam showing his excitement with his very own first ever pumpkin!

Hand, Foot, and Mouth

So Sunday morning I noticed that Jack was not eating the way he usually does. So I knew something was off. Later that afternoon, after being out Trick or Treating, I noticed that Jack was Hot. So I took his temperature and sure enough he had one. He was acting normal so I assumed he is cutting teeth. Once we got home and I was getting the boys ready for bed I noticed Adam was warm too. Then I knew it wasn't teeth and I knew something was going on. The next morning I noticed pimples around Jack's mouth. Again both boys were acting normal. Then later at lunch time there were more pimples around his mouth and so I got him to stick his tongue out. That is when I knew that he had Hand Foot and Mouth and I took both boys in. As of yesterday the boys were at their worst. Neither have been sleeping good at night, won't eat anything, but acting normal. I talked to the dr again yesterday afternoon and they suggested feeding Adam with a syringe. So, Adam has been eating that way ever since. Jack just refuses to eat anything. Today at lunch I forced him to take a bite of ice cream and once he realized that it didn't hurt he devoured a whole bowl. I think he has himself to the point of being scared to eat. But ice cream is better than nothing!
This is the sore on Adam's lip that is preventing him from latching onto the bottle nipple, OUCH!
The avid scrapbooker that I am just had to get this on camera for the scrapbook!

The Brother Bond

So this morning I was laying in bed. I could hear that both the boys were awake over the monitor but they weren't really ready to get up. As I was laying there I heard a Hi. It was Jack so I got up to see what was up. As I peaked in the door I realized I had to catch this on the camera. I snuck in and snapped this moment between the boys. Jack and Adam were talking back and forth.
Jack has decided that he can play in Adam's saucer even when Adam is in it. After I snapped this picture, I realized that both boys were stuck. Luckily Kory was home on his lunch break from work that he could grab one boy and I the other to get Jack out.

***

I have been noticing that as Adam is getting older and more mobil, the interaction between the two boys. I have never really felt that Jack has been upset that Adam is here. Jack has always seemed to embrace the idea that Adam belongs here. Jack is the only one that can get Adam (Mr. Serious) to laugh. Jack is also the one to get him to smile pretty easily. There have been pictures I caught in the last few weeks that prove to me that these two boys are going to be very close as they grow. Yeah, they are going to have there troubles, but right now that bond is forming and it makes me so proud as a mom to see it.

Adam is not happy with the results of the Packer Game!
This is what happens at 6:30 at night when Jack refuses to nap in the afternoon!
Adam just had to ham it up for the camera.

Jack now finds it fascinating to say "cheese" when the camera comes out. Even if he isn't getting his picture taken!

Where does the time go?

Today I took the boys in for their checkups. Can you believe that Jack is 23 months old and Adam is now 6 months? Where has this time all gone? They are just getting to big on me, I don't know how much I like that!

Jack is weighing in at a whopping 22lbs. 14oz. Our cat is still bigger than him!! Anyway, so Jack is now going to be taking Pediasure. I never thought I would have a dr tell me to give my child chocolate milk! Yup, he told me to try chocolate milk! He is continuing to climb everything. I am so surprised that he hasn't broken anything yet! (I am knocking on wood as I type this) Tonight he scaled the gate when A's mom came to get her and she told him to get down. I have learned to just shrug it off. I would be yelling at him all day if I yelled everytime he climbed something! He has also figured out how to open the gate to the basement stairs. Both A and Jack were down there this afternoon. His new game is throwing his ball downstairs, and then going to retrieve it. He is talking more and more. The other day we drove by the farm we pass everyday and he yelled out Horse! Since his favorite book is Brown Bear Brown Bear, he has figured out a lot of animals. Now the sounds he isn't interested in so much. He looks at me like I am nuts when I am quacking like a duck! I must admit, I am nuts once in a while! So now to figure out Birthday Party. Ugh, the never ending dilemma.

Adam weighed in at 15lbs. 12oz. I do believe this boy will be bigger than Jack when he reaches a year old! We have given up on Fruits for a while. His system is just not liking them. His new game his spitting. Mid sentence and he is blowing raspberries. He loves to listen to himself talk too. Tonight Jack was quiet, dangerous I know, and all of a sudden Adam just started to giggle away. I looked up from the fridge and sure enough, Jack had scaled the gate on our log staircase and was starting to walk up the stairs. I asked Adam if he was laughing because he knew Jack was going to get in trouble. He is sitting up unassisted for a little bit, and rolling everywhere! I am glad I didn't have to invest in a lot of money for saucer and swing again. He doesn't overly enjoy them. As long as he can roll on the floor and blow his raspberries, he is a happy boy. Now if only he would go to sleep so that I can go to bed!

So that is where the boys are at today. As soon as I figure out how to put pictures on here, I will post pictures. Oh and Adam says THHSPS!!!

Trying out something new

I decided it was time to enter into this part of cyber world. I don't know how famous I will become, haha! But I figured this is the best way to keep interested people updated with the boys. Stay tuned...
